to kill a mockingbird

The title of the book is To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. In the book Jem and Scout befriend a boy named Dill. Scout starts to go to school and she gets into a quarrel with a boy named Walter. This shows that Scout might be a contentious character at this point in the story and maybe later on as well. Walter is later invited to Scout's house for dinner. During dinner Scout was impertinent, to Walter, and Calpurnia admonished Scout about being polite. Jem finds gifts in a void inside of a tree, in front of Boo Radley's house which was eerie to them. Jem knew if his father Atticus ascertained this information it would be a calamity. Jem eventually dissembled the information about the gifts in the tree to Scout.
