August Sunset

Albert Bierstadt was a German-American painter that lived from 1830-1902. He is best known for his amazing landscapes of the western US. Bierstadt was part of the Hudson River Painting School.
This painting shows dear on the edge of the Hudson River. They are on the low lying bank opposite the cliffs with a water fall in the background. The painting is very soothing and really connects the viewer with nature. The trees are a dark brown surrounded by sark green grass. The sky goes from a darkish grey-red to a white and yellowish mix to a withe and light bluish mix. The whole painting is smooth and very well put together.
The Painting is centered around the light form the sky. The rhythm goes from top right to right to left. The painting symbolizes unity in natural and how everything in nature is drawn together. The emphasis of the painting is on the light and the waterfall.
