Robert Duncanson was an African American Painter that came from Hudson River School. I see all the textures of this picture, giving the smoothness of the plants and trees but also the roughness of the buildings, the historical facts. The way the buildings give it a historic and rustic feel, giving this a very romantic theme. The back round shows that this front picture a higher view, this looks like a valley and a small waterfall. Also in the sky looking like a sunset just ended in the horizon.
