THE BLACK CAT

The crime that expresses the "Spirit of perverseness", is when he gouges the cats eyes and kills it, and later kills his wife with no remorse. It think it is irrevocable that there are two cats. "But this feeling soon gave place to irritation. And then came, as if to my final and irrevocable overthrow, the spirit of PERVERSENESS." This is a memorable quote to me because it sums up the entire theme of the novel, because it is about the spirit of perverseness.
