When the narrator stabbed the cat in the eye he felt bad but then he felt perverseness and hanged the cat from a tree. There are 2 black cats in the story. The man kills the first black cat and decides to buy another cat. The man in the end kills his wife by hitting her in the head with an ax. He then confesses to killing his wife when the cops find her dead behind the wall with the second black cat on her head. "Upon its head, with red extended mouth and solitary eye of fire, sat the hideous beast whose craft had seduced me into murder and whose informing voice had consigned me to the hangman." I liked this quote because of the description the author uses because it puts picture in your head.
