The house was mysterious,
melancholy, old, and breaking apart. The house had the quality of
antiquity. The house also seemed
desolate. The narrator had a
sojourn at the Usher's house for a couple of weeks. The usher family didn't have any
descents because everyone died from diseases. The narrator and Usher spend their free time reading stories, singing, and playing guitar. Usher's sister died from a diseases that was similar to catalepsy. The doctor's didn't know for sure what the disease was though. As the days went on Usher was getting more
agitation. Usher had
acute hearing and heard his sister getting out of the tomb. Usher still had good senses even with his
malady. Usher being
lurid died from shock after seeing his sister. The
fissure in the house got bigger and collapsed at the end of the story and also killed the remainder of the Usher clan.
my favorite quote was in the end when the narrator said
"while i gazed, this fissure rapidly widened-there came a fierce breath of the whirlwind-the entire orb of the satellite burst at once rushing asunder-there was a long tumultuous shouting sound like the voice of a thousand waters- and the deep and dark tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the House of Usher"
