Pele's New World

1. Pele's New World by Peter Bodo and David Hirshey was published in 1977.
2. The general purpose of this book is to show the life of one of the best soccer players to ever live. It shows how passion has a funny way of trumping logic. It shows how even though everything was going against a young man, he was able to do the unthinkable and making the impossible, possible.
3. "As a young boy, I wanted to be my father. That is all."
4. Nostalgia- a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a formertime in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one'sfamily and friends; a sentimental yearning for thehappiness of a former place or time
Demarcation-the determining and marking off of the boundaries of something.
Charlatanism- a person who pretends or claims to have more knowledge or skill than he or she possesses; quack
Auspicious- promising success; propitious; opportune; favorable
Consummate- to bring to a state of perfection; fulfill.
5. I am in love with this book. To see a true mastermind come out of nothing is truly incredible. Pele and his family were so poor that they could not afford a ball. What makes this fairy tale true is, this doesn't stop Pele. Instead of a ball he uses a sock with another sock inside it, or a grapefruit. This honestly motivates me as a player and lover of the game that you can't give up, no matter what there is a way its just a matter of where your heart is.
