Moneyball

The book I am reading is Moneyball by Michael Lewis. My book is a non- fiction. The author developed his thesis by speaking with people that were part of the Oakland Athletic's front office. He spoke with Billy Beane himself and learned what happened and what was the reasoning behind their draft choices. They learned that by using a computer and looking at a players stats you can pick a good player that no one else knew about. They might get criticized for it but when the players turn into stars they know they made the right choice.

ominous- the impression that something bad is going to happen.
counterintuitiveness- counter to intuition
notion- vague awareness
formality- stiffness of behavior
chagrin- feeling humiliated
