The Pearl

The book i am reading is the Pearl by John Steinbeck. The Pearl so far is a pretty good book. The main characters in the book are Kino the protagonist and is a Mexican indian man who lives in a poor village in mexico. Kino is a pearl diver and a hard working man who takes care of his family. Jauna is his wife an is a good wife and backs him up in anything h does. She also is a good mother and takes good care of their child Coyotito. The book focuses on this family, and times are hard. They have little money and life is a struggle. One day when Kino is diving for pearls he finds a huge pearl that is worth a lot of money. Kino sees this as away for him to have a better life. Since he got the Pearl his life has only gotten worse and the corrupt Pearl dealers try to steal it from him and he sustains a head injury. Then once he goes to sell it two of the dealers give him offers that are very low and one refuses to by it. The Pearl is a fiction book. As the book goes on we learn about more characters like Juan Tomas Kino's older brother, Apolonia Juan Thomas's wife, and the doctor is corrupt and barley helped Coyotito after he was stung by the scorpion.
