hop-frog

The king was keenly alive to jokes, meaning he had a great sense of humor. The king's men were corpulent and also inimitable jokers just like the king. The king had two motley jokers named Hop-Frog and Trippeta. The king constantly made repulsive jokes about the tricksters. The story was a revenge tale because hop-frog wanted vengeance because the king hit Trippeta. The king made a witticism after hurting Trippeta and he and his men laughed at her. Hop-Frog had indignation and he had an acute plan to get revenge. After Trippeta made a diversion Hop-Frog burned the king and his men at the king's masquerade party. The narrator criticizes the characters by explaining their flaws and that they are bad people.

My favorite part was when Hop-Frog said the following quote in the story.
" I now see distinctly what manner of people these maskers are. they are a great king and his seven privy-councillors a king who does not scruple to strike a defenseless girl, and his seven councillors who abet him in the outrage. As for myself, i am simply Hop-Frog, the jester - and this is my last jest".
