The story "Hop Frog" is a revenge tale because the dwarf was constantly picked on for his interjectional gait, and his friend, Tripetta, is ridiculed, and he gets revenge for both of these things. The narrator is criticizing that the corpulent King and his nobles take advantage of their jesters, especially Hop Frog. My favorite part was when Hop Frog was in the midst of burning the king and nobles, and says "a king who does not scruple to strike a defenseless girl, and his seven counselors who abet him in the outrage. As for myself, I am simply Hop-Frog, the jester- and this is my last jest." This shows that he is getting revenge for the King disrespecting Tripetta by pouring wine on her and pushing her.
