The Black Cat
The story of the "spirit of PERVERSENESS" describes the crime of the owner of the cats. Something vexed the man and he was processed the man and caused him to succumb and go mad. He was compelled to not only cut out an eye of a cat, but he had the audacity to kill his wife. The surprise ending is that the cat is on the head of the corpse that has been buried in the wall. The most memorable quote for me was; "Upon its head, with red extended mouth and solitary eye of fire, sat the hideous beast whose craft had seduced me into murder and whose informing voice had consigned me to the hangman." This quote truly speaks how the man detested the "beast" and how much malevolence the cat has caused.
